Paderborn is a quite normal city with 140 thousand inhabitants in Nordrhein Westfalen. I have been there for the Wincor World exhibition. It's also a university city and a diocese with a big cathedral. You will easily detect that because if you are walking around in the city centre you will pass around 7 churches in 5-10 minutes. The city centre is quite nice a I must really add I hadn't expected that. The train connection is a wee bit bad. There is no ICE connection and you have to change the trains 2 times to reach the city from the ICE main line.
